Today, our imagination travels to Switzerland, to a small, samll village between three lakes and the highway. Where people speak several languages. Montmirail is the home of Sybille Römer and the Swiss junior squad for 2016.
It all started one year ago, when Mirjam Degiorgi wrote a training schedule for the complete following year. It is divided into several parts with the competitions as highlights. What is expected of whom at every moment is written down precisely. It looks like this plan worked pretty well.
Personally I didn’t see them coming, but they were always a step ahead, winning the CVIs Portogruaro, Moorsele and Bern. At these points, to show 80% of their abilities was ok. During this process, the peak of the full 100% isn’t far away anymore.
The final four weeks before the European championships they started with holidays. Because everyone was still away, the horses enjoyed some variety. Mirjam Degiorgi was riding out with them, went on the racecourse and so on. No vaulting at all. Then they began with light training, followed by a training camp with the whole club in the last week of July.
Time for an inventory. How far away is everyone from 100%? In the first week of August a very intense camp was part of the preparation. Everyone gets a rest then with only light training sessions.
We hope everything is set for the biggest event of all, now. Good Luck!
