Three CVIs are left till the Senior World Championships & the Junior European Championships in August. This weekend’s vaulting competition in Slovakia takes place in the context of a show jumping event. Does this work well? “It is great for the public & as the venue is quite big you have the possibillity to take in equestrian atmosphere everywhere, not only in the arena” told us the organizer Pavla Krauspe. We will follow the CVI in Pezinok, Slovakia, with this livestream by Marc Schuirmann:
They already posted the numbers for the final entries on June 2, 2016, exactly two weeks before the event. Great service for the fans! 13 nations will be taking part: ARG, AUT, CZE, GER, GBR, HUN, ISR, ITA, POL, RUS, SVK, SUI & USA.
We hope, that Argentina will have more luck than in the Czech Republic when they travelled all the way to Europe, had a fall & couldn’t compete. We also hope, that Zsófia Görgey from Hungary will be able to compete again. Isn’t it cool, that Ayelet Neumann & Yuval Bracha, the vaulters from Israel are able to visit that many CVIs this year? Again, the junior Aniela Bankowicz found a horse to rent (Harry Potter from Budapest) & gets another chance to reach a qualifying score for the Europeans. Russia entered 10 individuals, 1 squad & 1 pdd. These are good numbers. Also the squads come from 7 nations. And yes, there are two CVIs thsi weekend one again. Sounds like a good competition & a good sign after we had CVIs with mostly national competitors. The complete entries can be found on this great to handle list.
For the Slovakians & the US Americans it is the final chance to qualify for the world championships. We thought everything is decided but no, US Americans have this last selection trial. Colton Palmer is the only one competing for the three male spots. He is currently on third place, so, there won’t be a change in the top three. But for the females it is still a fight between Emily Rose who is currently third, & Kimberly Palmer who is fourth. It is not sure yet, if she will compete she would need a horse & get accepted late.
Mary McCormick had to withdraw from the selction & also from the team because of a bad knee injury. 116 get well wishes show that she will be missed during this year’s championship.
