7 Moments Of Perfection With Pia Engelberty

That’s it! We have to say goodbye to another outstanding vaulter who was so versatile that she won European Championships medals in all 3 categories. Pia Engelberty impressed us with many great performances. We interviewed her in 2014 and today it is time to take a look back on her vaulting career:

1. 2006 junior European champion with the national squad

With 16 years Pia won the golden medal at the Europeans in Munich. The team consisted of some big names: John Massoud, Ines Nawroth, Pia Engelberty, Sarah Kay, Corinna Knauf, Laura Passon & Regina Burgmayr as addtional in the compulsories, with the horse Key West & lunger Alexandra Knauf. www.volticlips.de

2. 2006 Rhenish Championship with Cologne

I remember that a picture of that freestyle was in the wall calendar I had this year & that I kept their page for most of the year. It was such a new freestyle, with fresh outfits & creative music interpretation. www.volticlips.de

3. 2007 Squad freestyle to Queen

We watched this again & again, we copied it in training, I am still watching that & getting a shiver. This freestyle isn’t beatable in emotions & perfection:

4. 2008 Siver medal at the European junior championships

Two years after her golden medal, she vaulted with her squad to the James Bond music Goldfinger, qualified for the European junior championships & finished on rank 2. Another medal for Pia Engelberty: Compulsories & Freestyle

5. 2011 the seniors year

She totally shocked me & impressed me with her outfit & performance in that year. It was something that had never been there, to show skin in the competition arena but it made me realize that you can bring the theater world into the vaulting arena. It was honored with the 6th place at the German Championships.

5. 2014 Pia became a flyer
In our interview in 2014 she told us, that she started too late with vaulting to be a flyer but it seems it is never too late. With 24 years she was for one competition the flyer of her team.

6. German champion in 2014 & 2015
Pia finished her vaulting career with super entertaining & great to watch pas de deux perfomances. The two of them won the German championships in 2014 & 2015.

7. 2015 European silver medal in pas de deux
For a few years now she competed with Torben Jacobs in PDD. In 2015 they won silver at the European Championships. What great vampires!
