European Championships: Official VaultingNews Coverage

The European Championships start on thursday and we are very excited to be here watching it with you.

This time we have prepared something very special: We are gonna have our very own special messengers from inside. They are none other than Kristian Roberts and Emily Rose, two american vaulters who are now part of our VaultingNews family.

It’s gonna be a lot of fun, they will bring you inside scoops, pictures and videos. Just so we can start off the right foot, let’s introduce a little bit about each one of them:

Kristian Roberts:

Hello everyone!  Guten Tag aus Deutschland!
I’m so happy to be here in Aachen to bring you all the excitement and events of the European Championships of vaulting beginning on the 20th of August.
Q: When did you start vaulting?
A: I began vaulting in 2005 making this my 10th year in this wonderful sport!  I started with Half Moon Bay Vaulters; Kimberly, Cassidy and Colton Palmer and our lunger was Jill Palmer.
Q: Where do you vault?
A: I vault in Woodside California with the Pacific Coast Vaulting Team owned by Sydney Frankel. Our lunger is Carolyn Bland who has lunged for many teams and individuals including World Champion, Devon Maitozo and the US Squad in 2010 at the World Equestrian Games.
Q: Who is your favorite athlete?
A: That’s a tough question, I would have to say my favorite athlete would be, in this case, athletes!  My peers and fellow competitors are my favorites, they motivate and inspire me to always keep working hard and pushing my vaulting to the next level!
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Schnitzel is a recent favorite of mine, I’m in Germany after all!  It might have actually surpassed the Döner kebab!
Emily Rose:
Hey this is Emily Rose, here is a little about me:
Q: When did you start vaulting?
A: I started vaulting about seven years ago.
Q: Where do you vault?
A: I vault with Pacific Coast Vaulters in the Bay Area of California.
Q: Who is your favorite athlete?
A: It’s very tough for me to choose who my favorite athlete as I have been so inspired by all the top vaulters, but  I have the privilege of working closely with Mary McCormick and her vaulting and work ethic is very inspiring to me, my other favorite is of course Joanne Eccles who is not only an extremely talented athlete but also a lovely person.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: My favorite food is probably mangoes or really any kind of fruit.

I am a 27 years old psychologist from Brazil, although I have graduated in psychology I work with media and communications, with a focus on data analysis. I am currently heading towards a master's degree at the London School of Economics (LSE). I am not vaulting anymore, but I did for over 10 years. As it very often happens in our sport, I never really left, I taught at a social project for a few years and have been working on VN since 2014.
